POWER PRODUCTS AND ELECTRONIC
LOADS
The electronic AC loads cover a wide
variety of different voltage, current and
power ranges. All the AC loads are pro-
grammed with 11 different sine, square
and DC waves. With 5 crest factor vari-
ations of each, a total of 55 waveforms
are available. An external input is also
provided to enable the user to amplify
signals from a waveform generator. AC
Loads allow real world operating con-
ditions to be simulated. Typical appli-
cations include circuit breaker, trans-
former & UPS output testing along with
general laboratory and research work.
For system integrators both GPIB and
RS232 interfaces are provided on all the
high power AC loads as standard. IEEE
488.2 is offered as an option on the
lower power units. LabVIEW drivers are
also available. Another useful feature
common across all the AC loads is the
isolated current monitor. This allows an
oscilloscope to be easily connected so
the user can view the load current.

An Adjustable electronic load gives
the test engineer the ability to qualify
designs, check production batches or
service and repair electrical products.
Many applications demand an adjus-
table electronic load. These include
the burn-in of new devices along with
general power supply, battery, fuel cell
and generator testing. Both static and
fully dynamic dc loads are offered. With
dynamic functionality 2 levels of load
current can be set. The rise and fall time
can then be adjusted together with the
time period spent at each level. The
load can also be made to follow com-
plex waveforms by tracking an external
arbitrary oscillator input. Like nearly all
the test and power instruments from
ETPS your chosen dc load can be built
with analogue and computer interfaces
to allow remote operation. LabVIEW
drivers are available for most product
families to simplify assimilation into
wider test systems.
